Planet Earth II

Why Evolution Is True

Reader Tyler called my attention to the trailer (published yesterday) for BBC’s Planet Earth II, and it looks fantastic. Watch the 3-minutes trailer, as there are plenty of cool animals, with EXTRA FELID. It will be narrated by the legendary David Attenborough, and the Facebook page is here, though I’m not sure when the program will air.

Kudos to the cinematographers!

The YouTube description:

10 years ago Planet Earth changed our view of the world. Now we take you closer than ever before. This is life in all its wonder. This is Planet Earth II.

A decade ago, the landmark television series Planet Earth redefined natural history filmmaking, giving us the ultimate portrait of life on Earth. Planet Earth II, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, will reveal our planet from a completely new perspective, using significant advances in both filming technology and our understanding of the natural world.

  1. Somewhere in the above article is written,” Kudos to the cinematographers!” And yes I am thinking of Tom Hugh-Jones! I read a wonderful interview of his. His answers were so refreshingly exhilarating and filled with the sense of adventure! As a high dive through a big waterfall into a clear, bubbling spring below. His sense of freedom to be enjoyed when he was just 5 years old, through the rainforests, is infectious, to say the least. I was relieved to find that all those who love biology need not relish raw jungle food that comes from strange grubs and insects; just to prove themselves as biologists. He candidly states that he tried such but did not find it savory. He has a nice balance poised between the jungle life and the urban . He absolutely adores rainforests and all wildlife! Although he missed fresh salad when he was in the forests and yearned for his own garden. He takes pride in his family and mentions his parents and children too with especial sentiment. And you get the feeling that all of them connect to Dame nature’ s planet earth giving back to nature what untold treasures it has given them! Tom’ s account of his Filming adventures are something way different from what others might say about the same. You feel like being with them every minute of their patient wait for the animals to appear! He shares the discovery of ‘preroll ‘ TECH and how it made it lot easier to get precisely what was wanted! And precisely was wanted the swagger of the male humming bird, the dance of a rare spider, the discovery spree by a scientist with their team who found several species of same Family showing differences in colour or feather! He loves talking about animals. So entrancing are his views that I was busy converting his interview into visuals of my dream like state! And wishing to take him back with me in a Time-machine and further wishing he were my Biology teacher! His talk about the great Attenborough makes you so impressed, admiring, revering, appreciating a wonderful personality who loves animals!; as if you have met him yourself at a mingling with audience, break at a great Wildlife conference! I hope planet earth evolves into several series into the future’s need for really keeping Ecology safe for humans and animals alike!
